Batcave Chandelier and Gothic Lantern
The customer's request was to create a bat light for his large living room with two torch septets on each side of his fireplace. Being a surgeon, he wanted it to reflect the medical serpent as well as his love for medieval castles and bats. When he received this 5 foot wingspan hand forged light he said we hit his mark and was delighted.
Whether you're a professional or Batman, who would you call for decorative lighting in the Batcave? You would likely call Scottsdale Art Factory and order a dozen of these lantern carrying flying bats! This is a chandelier that would fit right into the Batcave of the 1960’s Batman television series, but would also look great in a wine room, foyer, or game room in your home. A little bit gothic, a little bit whimsical, but all fine art handcrafted lighting.
Our master blacksmiths have created a very realistic bat in flight carrying a wrought iron gothic style lantern. The detailing in the bat is at the highest level, showing the webbing of its wings and the texture of the fur on its body. The finishing touch on the bat is the advanced patina finish that we use to add color and contrast. The use of color helps to give the bat a more realistic look. This light is done in a pendant style, with the pendant arm being a textured branch with a serpent climbing toward the top, also finished with the advanced patina. The actual light source, the gothic style lantern, is hand forged in original craft; we never do iron castings at Scottsdale Art Factory. So let out your inner superhero, and order your own flying bat chandelier for your Batcave today.
Design Inspiration : The micro bats constitute the now outdated suborder Microchiroptera within the order Chiroptera (bats). Bats were once differentiated into Megachiroptera and Microchiroptera, based on their size, but based on available molecular evidence this has now been shown to be incorrect, with the horseshoe bats being included in Yinpterochiroptera with the fruit bats and others. Most species which were termed Microchiroptera are now referred to as the Yangochiroptera.
