This Billard Table Is Circa 1895

Antique Hand Carved From Solid Timber

As Shown: - Solid Exotic Timber - 56"W X 100"L X 32"T. This table features a unique style, with its large shaped legs and feet, all hand carved from solid blocks of solid wood. Its design exceeds the equipment standards specified by the Billiard Congress of America.


It is regulation size, with a playing field of 44"W X 88"L and features a full 1" thick, three piece, oversized Italian slate bed. The 5 3/4" wide rails are created from cherry wood and have hand beveled edges and beautiful inlaid mother of pearl diamond sights. The highest quality K-66 profile cushions and tournament spruce felt (other colors available), have been used in creating this piece. Decorative beveled skirt edging complements all four sides. Special mar proof leveling feet have been used to insure accurate leveling. All the wood surfaces are finished with five coats of hand rubbed clear lacquer. This item is shipped to your location ready to be set up and leveled by a qualified professional.

As the game of modern billiards enters its second centennial, historians, agree that American manufacturers of tables have had more to do with the worldwide growth of the sport than any other factor. Industrial America lead the way with ingenuity and the standardizing of function by designing cushions, pockets and beds around new materials as they became available.


Billiards relies greatly on consistency. If a player makes or misses a shot, he learns from that shot. Predictability of rebound and levelness of the bed makes this possible"”and makes billiards fun. As Americans became aware of this new pastime, tens of thousand of pool, billiard and snooker tables were produced by companies such as James Brunswick, Julius Balke, H. W. Collender, J.E. Came, Jacob Strahle, August Jungblut, and Chas. Passow & Sons. The cabinets of these tables copied the interior and architectural styles of the times such as Queen Anne, Victorian, Eastlake, Edwardian, Arts and Crafts, and Art Deco. The billiard table was not only a game apparatus, but a fine piece of furniture.


By attrition of everyday wear, or by catastrophes of fire, earthquake and floods, very few billiard tables over sixty years old survive today. Gone are many of the materials used in the manufacturing"”Brazilian Rosewood, Circassinan Walnut and Ivory. All tables exceed the equipment standards specified by the Billiard Congress of America. regulation size or over size all playing fields features a full 1" - 3" thick, your choice three-piece Italian slate beds. The side rails are created from cherry wood and have hand bevelled edges and beautiful mother of pearl inlaid sights. The highest quality K-66 profile cushions and tournament felt (many colors available) .


The pockets and baskets are designed to B.C.A. specifications and are created from the highest quality, fine top grained leather with braided tassels. The base is designed from solid timber and is always hand hewn, pegged, dowelled construction. Special mar-proof leveling feet are used to ensure accurate leveling. All the wood surfaces are finished in five to ten coats of hand rubbed lacquer or oils.


All table structures are hand hewn pegged and dowled construction as well as steel reinforced legs and side rails insuring these structures are solid forever.

Scottsdale Art Factory carries on the American Arts And Crafts Movement of the 21st century, in the same way William Morris and John Ruskin (founders of the Arts and Crafts furniture movement in circa 1800 England) inspired Gustave Stickley (founder of the American Arts and Crafts movement) in America circa 1900. Frank Loyd Wright, Charles and Henry Greene (inspired architects of the ultimate cottages such as the Gamble House in Pasadena California) are credited with raising quality standard to its highest level in their day. All of these great master craftsman also inspired the Marabella Brothers in the early 20th Century (founders of SAF circa 1913).

Our finish process includes five to ten coats of hand rubbed furniture quality clear oils or water based non-toxic lacquers. It is applied, cured, rubbed and re-applied depending upon whether your order is Limited Edition or old growth Original works. Every surface of this product is fine finished including the under sides and hidden areas. These doors are built to investment family heirloom quality and are finished to be virtually maintenance free and will stand the test of time. You may choose the natural color or from over 400 standard stain colors, or computer color match to any stain color from a sample you provide. Most of our finishes are water based and earth friendly. Colorized Carving: You can order any carving colorized. In order to achieve a colorized carving, multiple stain colors are used. The stains are hand applied and blended with an artistic eye to achieve an enhanced natural appearance.


All Steel Is Coal Fired, Hammered By Master Blacksmiths The Old Fashioned Way And Patina Finished. At Scottsdale Art Factory, we take pride in our traditional, superior quality workmanship and craft our products from only the finest steel. Our master blacksmiths have been classically trained, and utilize old world techniques such as coal firing, anvil hammering and hand forging to create the finest handcrafted hardware available anywhere. All of our steel work is hand patina finished by heat applying iron oxides to achieve a natural patina finish that will stand the test of time.


Nothing is Drop Forged. We create works The Old Fashioned Way using solid hand forged steel, (drop forging is a poor quality, casted copy of a hand forged work of art). Nothing is wrought iron; wrought iron is simply a softer and less sturdy form of metal that cannot compare to stronger hand forged low carbon steel.
