1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Design and Performance Requirements: Design Pressures are applicable to individual units and may vary with unit size.
1. 4” Panel Hurricane rated double doors.
a. Units shall be designed to comply with WDMA certification per ASTM E1996 and 101/I.S.2-97 &
b. A7ir leakage shall not exceed [≤ .3] cfm per square foot of overall frame when tested at 1.57 psf according
to ASTM E 283.
c. No water penetration when tested at [OFD: DP55 – 8.25] psf and [IFD: DP50 – 7.5] Psf according to ASTM

SECTION 08140 TIMBER ENTRANCE DOORS

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
Custom Built double doors (with Passage Door) and frame, complete with weather strip and hardware.
1.2 RELATED SECTIONS
A. Millwork: Wood trim other than furnished by door and frame manufacturer
B. Joint Sealants: Sill sealant and perimeter caulking
C. Door Hardware: Hardware other than furnished by door and frame manufacturer D. Paints and Coatings: Paint or stain other than factory applied finish
1. Certificates: Submit manufacture’s certifications indicating compliance with specified performance and design requirements under provisions of Section 01 33 23.
1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Regulatory Requirements: Emergency Egress or Rescue: Comply with requirements Bahamas Building Code
A. Comply with provisions of Section 01 65 00.
B. Deliver in original packaging and protect from weather.
1.8 STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Prime or seal wood surfaces, including surface to be concealed by wall construction, if more than thirty (30) days will
expire between delivery and installation. Seal unfinished top and bottom edges of doors if doors are stored at the job
site more than one (1) week.
B. Store door panels flat on a level surface in a clean and dry storage area under provisions of Section 01 66 00.
C. Condition doors to local average humidity before hanging.
A. Doors shall be warranted to be free from defects in manufacturing, materials, and workmanship for a period of ten
(10) years from purchase date.
B. Insulating glass shall be warranted against visible obstruction thru the glass caused by a failure of the insulating
glass air seal for a period of twenty (20) years from the date of original purchase.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURED UNITS

Door Blade, Thick.Solid, exotic cedar door blade, hand hewn.
Passage Door 32”w x 85 1/2” thick Passage Door within main door panel.
Frame, 96”W X 113 1/2”T X up to Deep. 5” thick structural Jamb with 1" rabbeted stop. Pre hang door in jamb, includes weather package.
Adjustable Heavy Duty Crush Proof Threshold: Saddle raises to meet sweep.
Self Closing, Tension adjustable hinges:can be adjusted to speed door closure.
Self Lifting Mechanical Sweep: This is built into the bottom of your 3"-7" thick door.
Dead Bolt: Special dead bolt lock is built for 3" to 7" thick doors. Single cylinder (thumb turn) Adjustable Tension Roller Style Door
Latch: This ensures secure door closure.

PART 3 EXECUTION
A. Verification of Conditions: Before Installation, verify openings are plumb, square, and of proper dimension as
required in Section 01 71 00. Report frame defects or unsuitable conditions to the General Contractor before
B. Acceptance of Conditions: Beginning of installation confirms acceptance of existing conditions.
A. Comply with Section 01 73 00.
B. Assemble and install doors and frames according to manufacturer’s instructions and reviewed shop drawings. C. Set door sills in full bed of sealant, install backing material, and sealant at head, side jambs, and as specified in
Section 07920. Do not use expansive foam sealant.

D. Install frames and stationary panels as required. E. Install accessory items as required.
3.3 STARTING AND ADJUSTING
A. Adjust door to work freely with hardware functioning properly. Re-adjust at completion of project if directed.
A. Remove visible labels and adhesive residue according to manufacture’s instructions.
B. Leave doors and glass in a clean condition. Final cleaning as required in Section 01 74 00.
3.5 PROTECTING INSTALLED CONSTRUCTION
A. Comply with Section 01 76 00.
B. Cover doors and frames during painting or other construction operations that may cause damage. C. Protect sill from damage by chemicals, solvents, paint, or construction traffic.
