Grand Entrance Door With Hand Carved Bears In The Wilderness And Black Wash Finish
This is a solid wood double entrance door featuring a hand carved custom black bear design inspired by the Schloss Tratzberg in Austria. Schloss Tratzberg is a 16th century Tyrolean castle in the mountains of Austria. The original castle was used as Emperor Maximilian’s I hunting lodge in the 13th century, but it was destroyed by fire in the late 15th century. Instead of rebuilding, the emperor traded the estate. When the Taenzel family rebuilt it in the 16th century, the castle was built in a late Gothic style, incorporating marble, wood, and iron in an artful manner. The castle again changed hands in 1554 and the new owner expanded the castle and styled it in a Renaissance fashion. More ownership changes occurred over the centuries and at one point the castle was uninhabited for 150 years. After being neglected for so long, the current family has restored this castle to its former glory, including many carved doors and hunting themes, from which this door draws its inspiration.
This door is built in original craft from 3” thick cedar cypress, making it a beautiful security door. With a black wash, the carvings are accentuated even more creating a dramatic presentation. Bring a bit of Austrian inspired history into your home with this hand carved wooden door as your own grand entrance.
